This only works if your making a new account not if you want to redeem your months:

1. Go to join Xbox Live.

2. Enter all of the info and use a valid email.

3. When you pick your subscription, pick Silver.

4. Select keep silver.

5. Say yes and you will be invited to get a free gold membership for one month. The account is turned to a silver account after the month is over.
